About Matt O'Desky:

I have been in the jewelry business since 2000 with most of my work being in retail jewelry corporations.

Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I was accustomed to the Diamond District downtown - one building filled with hundreds of offices of diamond wholesalers and brokers. When I arrived in Austin to continue my retail jewelry career, I realized that there were many people in Austin from these larger cities that actually travelled back home to buy diamonds.

When I realized that there were no Diamond Districts in Austin, I knew what I wanted to do. I’ve always loved being part of my clients’ most precious and sentimental moments in their lives and helping to make them special and memorable. When I met Sheldon, we decided to combine the uncompromising customer service that most retailers pride themselves on, and the Diamond District pricing with low overhead, and create Austin Diamond District. We will make your special moments truly memorable for you and your loved ones!

About Sheldon Millsap:

For over 30 years, I have been in the jewelry business throughout Texas.

Starting when I was 16 in Midland, Texas, I worked my way up from sweeping up and cleaning the store to the manager of that same store. From my mentors, I learned about dedication not only to their clients but their employees as well. I work every day to maintain the standards these gentlemen taught me.

During my time in Midland, I studied to become a Diamond Graduate from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the industry’s leading gemological lab. After moving to Austin just a few years ago, I have worked mostly in the independent jewelry stores. I currently sit on the board for the Austin Professional Jeweler’s Associate.

Since my relocation, I have quickly learned that Austin is a very progressive city that relies greatly on the Internet for shopping. Pricing in Austin is much more competitive than where I come from. That is why at Austin Diamond District, we focus on maintaining an extremely low overhead so our clients can get more than they ever imagined!
